The 2nd wave

well today was interesting. band was, for that matter. as usual its the usual post bout music and stuff so you can skip these if' u ain interested haha ( i warned you )

well chiong-eed to band rm at 8 in the morning to practice .. yes the marimba again.. seriously, im hooked onto playing the marimba with 4mallets haha. so much joy. and pain. yet pleasure.. (no don't go thinking sick) -.-

so anyway, as usual managed to sort out a few stuff with the concertino and iron out someparts. i'm progressing with each day. i'm happy.

then comes Ms S.

so basically i told her i reckoned she did it double the speed.

"OH i wanted it like that all along. or not very boring"

"but if it's like this i wont be able to play the piece..."

"never mind la, just play"

"but as in I really ccaannnooottt play the piece."

(at this pt she got really fed-up and irritated)

"you don't come telling me about what piece i can play or not"

(and hence the conversation ended)

Dan's note: not according to exact words. but yea thats the gist. i swear i was totally polite.

and percussion was shoo-ed outside for "sectionals" for er.. 2 and half hrs.

whee.. okay sry guys i guess its my fault but gimme some sympathy here man ..=(

so anyway, she din do the piece today so i guess/hope she'll look thru the score again and MAYBE on the pretext of "he cant do it properly so we do it SLOWLY", she'll go slow.. well anything to b able to play one helluva piece like this :) *winks at a certain someone who adores this piece.

yep, hopefully she will go to normal tempo and hence there might actually by a chance where i can succeed playing the piece in jap instead of the mere vestige of a chance i have of playing in before ( the chance of me suddenly waking up oneday and being able to play gordon's bicycle twice its speed )

so yea. *pray pray pray*


and then there's YO reh.

oh yes b4 that during combined after that it was sorta tensed btw me and ms S. no smiles nthg. maybe just a mutual understanding. you know.. (i couldnt care less if u hate me. and neither should you.) blahdeblah. like there was this snare solo i suddenly was smacking the drum ( iseriously din mean to) and she was lyk "don't try ot be funny with me, cause its not." and i just stared back at her.. -.-

oh well, whatever it is, it wont affect my music in the band. i hope. at least i wont let it consume me okay? we still gonna have helluva fun in japan :)

right anyway. nearly late for YO reh. and we sorta ran thru the entire concert reportoire... and and and and..

presenting... SEQUEL TO CHINAMAN!!!.. (no offence intended to the china peeps, i have really great friends from china and they're really nice)

scene one:

i was at the timps. HaZ was coming over occasionally to gimme some tips and all. him being SL and all, im more than happy :)

and then chinaman comes along, stands right next to me, hands folded around chest like some freaking bouncer. ( yes he's pretty big size ) ... thanks for the attention but no thanks.

oh no thats not the pt. it was after that.. half way thru the song where i was trying desperately to keep count 150bars. he was lyk "heyhey the timpani mallets the way u playing wrong ar... blahblah"

hmm i know we are sorta a YOUTH Orch. but heard of professional courtesy? like u don't go up to some one in your section and go criticizing his playing (esp if your're a newcomer..-.-) well if uwanna do so, do it SUBTLELY?????

oh btw, what he said was wrong so yea.. (doubly _l_) cuz yea im using cloyd duff mallets and all hence the different technique.. yadayada spare u the details haah

anywayy.. ahah he was telling her to use some soft xylo mallets when even the music director wanted hard. so i told her to change to hard.. he wasnt too happy yea. whatever.

i think i'm being quite a bitch so i shall redeem myself abit..haha


out of the rehearsal and music making, he's kinda nice though haha.. actually maybe its juz my natural tendency to TRY as much as possible to "click" with pple so yea.. anyway he ain that bad non-musically ahaha..

right. marimba clock : 3hrs today excluding band prac. well done daniel haha.

aiming for 4hrs tmr ;)
