i was struck with a thought and it stayed with me throughout the day. The fragility of life, the transience, how life got be over in a flash, an careless slip, a foolish venture.. and ur life is the ultimate price. We see photos in the obituaries section in newspapers everyday, countless faces that were once a life, a breathing soul. Some have not even lived the full length of their lives, and yet Death came claiming their lives.

i was struck with yet another thought; what would happen to us when we die? Putting aside all the religious faiths and beliefs, can you imagine, one day, u would sleep for eternity and cease to exist as the world moves on and on, time passing by, yet u would no longer be aware of the world around you? a black hole, a chapter, no , an entire span of your life ended. What would it b like, what would it feel like.. My parents; 40 years of their lives has past, pretty soon, in a blink of the eye, we would be old. Think of your life as a candle: when the candle burns out, the wax all melted, what would become of us? Pure nothingness? A void?

This may have been told to you countless times before, but please, treasure every second of your life and treat every second with your friends, families as if it were your last. Treasure it.. bear no grudges, hold no hatred, for you have only one life, one oppotunity which could slip from you every moment. And the time you bad mouthed a person could b the last time , the last words you ever said to him or her, would you b glad to know that those were the last words you said? Or if you knew that it were to be your last words to him or her, would you have said it?

Think abt it.

I came across a website on many interesting sutff. Check it out if you are free and check it out if u aint.. Special note to the health and science section. VERYVERY interesting..

sme INTERESTING examples..

According to data released earlier this year by the Centers for Disease Control, the probability of HIV acquisition by the receptive partner in unprotected oral sex with an HIV carrier is one per 10,000 acts. In vaginal sex, it's 10 per 10,000 acts. In anal sex, it's 50 per 10,000 acts. Do the math. Oral sex is 10 times safer than vaginal sex. Anal sex is five times more dangerous than vaginal sex and 50 times more dangerous than oral sex. THEREFORE.. ANAL IS MORE DANGEROUS THAN ORAL... interesting eh?

ok.. this website isn everything bout.. u noe.. so..

more examples..

In bees, fertilized eggs become females. Unfertilized eggs become males. Even without a queen, some female honeybees can keep a colony going by laying eggs that fertilize themselves.
Birds do it, too. Up to 30% of unfertilized turkey eggs can spontaneously begin to develop. In one study, selective breeding boosted the rate above 40%. A 1975 U.S. government report documented more than 50 mature turkeys that were never fathered.
Lately, parthenogenesis has been verified in various snakes and lizards, extending the list to about 70 vertebrate species, including fish, frogs, and chickens.
Still, the process hadn't been proved in sharks or mammals. And there seemed to be a good reason why. An egg that fertilizes itself makes two identical sets of chromosomes, including sex chromosomes. In birds, snakes, and most lizards, two identical sex chromosomes make a male. That allows parthenogenesis to function as a DNA survival mechanism, since an isolated female—close your ears, kids—can produce a son and mate with him. But in sharks or mammals, this wouldn't work, since two identical sex chromosomes—XX—make a female.
Or so we thought. Three weeks ago, Biology Letters delivered the second surprise. A perfectly formed baby shark had appeared in a tank in Nebraska. Tests proved she, too, was a parthenogen.
Why hadn't we found parthenogenesis in these animals before? Because we hadn't looked. Several sharks have mysteriously reproduced in captivity in recent years. Scientists now think parthenogenesis is responsible. Of the two sexually mature female Komodo dragons in Europe, both are now known to have reproduced this way. Every parthenogenic dragon is male, which may explain in part why males heavily outnumber females. In snakes, the array of known parthenogenic species continues to grow.
For explaining everyday life—babies, puppies, puberty—the mommy-daddy story of procreation works fine. But at life's edges, conventional biology, like conventional physics, breaks down. As you approach the speed of light, time slows and distances shrink. And as you approach extinction, genes find new ways to pass themselves on. A Komodo dragon manufactures a mate. A shark's got to do what a shark's got to do.
Parthenogenesis is just one of nature's tricks. Female turtles can store sperm for years. Sea bass can change their sex. Hermaphroditic sharks can fertilize their own eggs. Male ants can commandeer eggs to clone themselves. Some lizard species have reproduced for ages with no apparent male input.

INTERESTING EH!? this might probably explain the natural selection theory in biology.. n dat moofoo abt why there are more males then females..

so go chekc this website out!!! http://www.slate.com/

oh n if u r free... check this website out too... http://www.sgforums.com vry interesting comments by fellow singaporeans on various issiues...

and since u r so free... check this website too... http://www.youngpap.org.sg vryvry 'interesting' stuff... apparently the GST hike actually is beneficial to ewveryone economically.. =.=

A wonderful poem

A wonderful poem made by my dear friend Ariel. ( its was written to accompany the song he composed )

(PLAY THE SONG WHEN U READ THE POEM)

I

no sooner have i thought more lucidly and soberly
than i effect my ingress with equanimity
into the moonlit charnel night

the waning moon now hangs solemnly in solitary
amid a stark void of pure tenebrous emptiness
and nothing else, save fate's cosmic expanse of might

in contrast to the serene dead of night
hosting its nightly complement of trysts of couples
both too moving, and stiflingly enviable a sight

of which gleams shed condolently over the abjectly analogous
insufferably lonely mortal heart longing for its wholeness
and the ever-pining, ill fate, tragedy and mourning

in grief from greater depths of my heart and in essence
of covenant consecrated to sorrowing of eternal sustenance
like geysering tears from a democritus' spring

II

at length losing proximity but patience through the incessant gloaming
whence harkening the clamouring pyre grievously
wherewith the eternally missed departs the morbid decay beneath her dignity

beyond uttered goodbyes
to subsist on one promise to face the rest of life incomplete obligatorily yet conceptually i mustered
but with repose for im assured

that she left, laid awake in perpetuity neath the glass at last
enshrouded in peace and acceptance within her coffin chamber
herein fraught with piquant blossoms smothering her little frame

all dressed up ere the approach to, it is hoped, the better place
but alas, lo, that imperfection and gloominess of an emptiness which ponderously abided in her ever so limpid eyes!
which were once set with vivace aflame

and with firmness i discharge against her bidding soon
my wrist now slit and blood bestrewn
nothing will stand in the way of my appetency to meet her again, on the moon!

A little analysis on the part of me:

Notice the lack of capitals in the poem. This is to indicate more flow throughout the entire poem. Could also be to bring out the apparent numbness or immense sadness and despondency of the author.

On the wide range of vocabulary used: lo and behold posh linguistic exhibitionism! [ quote from ariel ;) ]
